African Campaign

So first up, some details about my campaign and group. The guys I game with are the guys behind Blaze Away Minis, they have some very cool colonial minis. We play historicals, and my contribution is a Modern Campaign set in a fictional African republic.

Fazongo is a former British Colony given self-rule in the early fifties. It originaly came under British influence when the King of the North Fazo enlisted British aid in subduing the South Fazo. This aid evolved into British rule. British rule was extended into the east of Fazo territory when marauding tribesmen from the Tikola, Tessero, and Khesta tribes were defeated.
Following self-government, the King ruled until the 1960's when a military coup led by a South Fazo general overthrew him, and he was forced to flee. General San Budun ruled until his death in 2007. His rule was repressive and corrupt, and he only stayed in power by diving the tribes and playing them off one another. With his death, internal and external pressure forced the Army to hold fairly free and open elections.
The result of these elections was that a North Fazo technocrat favourable to the West became President. President Bo Srabak actually stuck to his promises and set about weeding out and punishing the corrupt. This was not acceptable to the South Fazo elites, and a coup was staged. This coup was put down by Army loyalists, but the corrupt elites retreated to the south and declared their region independant.
It was at this point that a major US/UK oil company announced the discovery of large amounts of oil in the centre of Fazongo, oil that in all likelihood lay under territory controlled by all five main tribal groups. This resulted in a mass uprising as each of the subject tribes attempted to seccede and take as much oil land as possible.
In the normal manner of these things, the West would make noise but do nothing, however in this day and age, the oil was too precious to stand back and do nothing. With this in mind, Western nations sent a NATO intervention force of special operations groups to Fazongo to ostensibly train and lead the Fazongolese Army. In reality, the Fazongo Intervention Strike Teams (FIST) are to take the battle to the rebels, attempting to disrupt and demoralise them so as to force them to the negotiating table.

I have ordered a fireteam each of Delta Force, USMC Force Recon, UK SAS, Italian Col Moschino, and German KSK for the NATO force, supported by some CIA agents and mercs. They will be opposed by a horde of African militia and insurgents. All are in 28mm.
